Introduction to Chicken Health Course

I offer the following face-face online courses with a maximum group size of 6 people.

I use technology that brings my course to life on your screen, and you will be able to interact and perform tasks like we were all sat together.

Please have your tea and biscuits at the ready and bring a favourite, healthy hen for parts 1 and 2, sat safely in a pet carrier with food and water, or comfortably penned up outside to be easily caught.

Technical info: You will need access to a computer with speakers and ideally a webcam for an hour. You can still participate without a webcam, but we wont be able to see you, your hen or what you are showing us.

You will receive an email with a Zoom link before the course, which you will need to follow to join.

See recent course reviews below.

To discuss more date options please email me.

Parasites & Nutrition

1 hour 15 min

After completing this course you will be able to describe how to keep your birds healthy. You will learn about worming, mite and lice control and nutrition. I also have a Q&A session for you to ask any unanswered questions. Please bring a sample of your feed (all types) so you can do a "show and tell" and have an easily accessible hen to perform a parasite check on with the rest of the group.

Happy Coop

01/19 - 01/23

For people with more than 3 chickens or hens running with a cockerel. You will learn about how to minimise stress in your coop. Chickens are feisty and have strong pecking orders. Many diseases arose from "stress" caused from hen-hen interactions. By the end of the course you will learn how to correctly set up a hen house and how to prevent stress-induced disease in your coop.

RECENT FEEDBACK

I recently teamed up with Kate from Hens on Oxley to run a very successful "Introduction to chicken health" morning for some local chicken owners over tea and biscuits. This included a game of chicken anatomy, practical on bird handling and question and answer session.
